Long time no write

It's been a while since the last post. It's not that it has been boring here, quite the opposite. I've just been busy/lazy. Anyways, here's briefing of last days' happenings.

Well Friday was another school day (as Sat+Sun) and nothing special went on. The unit we're now having is by far the most boring that I'll even have here, Marketing of Financial Products. Gsus, marketing (sry K.). But the lecturer is nice so I guess I'll survive. Saturday was pretty boring until school was out. In the evening we (me, Byron and some dude) went to the Swans' game that is aussie football game. The game was played at the Olympic Park Telstra stadium and was exciting. Even though the crowd was behaving themselves and wasn't even close as loud as in Europe the atmosphere was great. And we won! That was the game that secured Sydney's place in play offs. Looking forward to finals. After the game we went to a rugby club to watch Wallabies' game against S. Africa which we lost. But I really don't have the enthusiasm to follow rugby so I didn't mind the result. The beer was cheap...

On Sunday after lectures Helge (german dude) asked if I wanted to join farewell party that was thrown for another german dude, Ulf. So I went there and met lots of new people. The party was alright but I mainly had in mind the upcoming home ride which I hadn't. So around one o'clock I left and was eventually back home later. Damn back country of Quaker's Hill.

Monday was pretty hectic as I had to finish my Fin. Modelling assignments and to prepare for the exam. And that was on Tuesday. It actually went pretty well or that's how I'd like to believe but I almost missed it because of our transportation "system".

The weather here has been great for the last week. The temperature's been around +25 so how's that for a winter day? I'm actually afraid of the summer...

One down plenty to go

Yesterday was the first exam and I can't say how it went. I did answer to all questions but you never know. Should be alright though. The next one is on Tuesday and before that I gotta do few assingments for the unit. And while I'm at it the new unit starts tomorrow as does another one on next Friday. So long for the weekend break.

The olympics are finally starting for me as there actually is something else to see than swimming. It's a nice sport don't get me wrong but I heard a rumor there might be other events too. Like basketball where USA kicked Ozzies' ass! I just wonder where the Finns are... ;)

Fotos from the Blue Mountains

I visited the finnish girls yesterday and finally got the pictures from the Blue Mountains. It wasn't the best day to be there so the pics aren't a showcase but you'll get the idea. Last weekend it snowed there so you can call them mountains. Hopefully I'll get a camera in near-future so I can go back and shoot some stunning pics. Until that, enjoy these.

Whereabouts

of our (town house on) campus. I discovered this map from our Uni's page and decided to give you some idea where (the hell) I live. Our house is the U30 next to the tennis/basketball court (the maps are pdf-files). As you can see from the Greater Western Sydney map our campus is pretty far away from the City although things could be worse and I'd live Penrith or Hawkesbury. Luckily I don't.

Damn Olympics!

Or should I say damn jetlag! (Damn me?) As you might guess I watched the opening seremony this morning. Yep, around 3.30am I woke up and couldn't get sleep right away so I turned the telly on. And there I was watching it when clock hit 7.30am and it was time to prepare for the studies. Great! Do I ever learn?

Well yesterday wasn't easy night either. First I missed the train in Parramatta (where the Uni is) then because of that I should've waited 55 minutes. Hell no! I took the first train to right direction and got off at Blacktown. There I missed a bus by 5 minutes...So I decided to walk home which is about an hour. It wasn't that bad except there were some kids running their mouths during the walk. Luckily nothing happened but I learned not to do that again at Friday night by myself 'cause Quakers and Marayong aren't the best neighbourhood in Sydney. Anyway I was home around 11pm and was dead tired. And rest of the story you already read.

Damn me!

Some late night action...

at the Woolworths ;)
Well I didn't see that coming but after 10pm I got these cravings for you-know-what so what to do? On the campus we have one vending machine but it has eaten once too often my money so that was out of question. Then I remembered that someone had told me that the Quakers Court is open till midnight. Great! So I grabbed my pack started my night stroll. It took 50 minutes but around 1130pm I was back with few Max bottles. I mean you can't write your essays without that now can you? What, you can? Well I can't anyway, heck no!

What else...I've started the essay, in case you wanna know, and it's coming pretty easy. As I said last time it's easy to write when you're winning :)
I just sent an e-mail enquiry regarding to the digi cam. The shop says the'll beat almost every price and hopefully they do. If they reply in the morning with positive news and have it in stock I might have a new camera on Thursday. But better wait and see.

The Olympics start this weekend and even though I'm thrilled to sit in front of telly all night long I have this fear that I might miss most of the Finnish athletes. As I've understood Aussies don't care who's breaking the records or wins as long as they get to cheer to their countrymen. So I don't think javelin will be in top their list...so shame.

Straight A's

Well not exactly A's but I received from the first two assignments of Financial Institutions Management full score: 15/15 and 5/5. Not too bad considering I had problems to motivate myself to actually write them. Now I'm not sure whether it implies me being good or that the assignments were pretty easy (although, ehm, I was the only one to get 20). Anyway, I'm happy that the school started so well. And as a frosting, on Sunday we had banking simulation game which our Indo-Finnish group won. Of course I should say. We don't get points for winning the simulation but it's nice to analyse good results. Does anybody need successful bank manager? ;)

Other than that...I don't have anything to eat 'cause I was too tired to get groceries this weekend. Which makes me wonder if I should start sleeping a little bit more. Or at least break my current sleeping pattern (I go to bed at 4-6 am and wake at 10-12)? But nah, I couldn't bother.

Fire!

I'll just give a try to blog in english and tell about the most exiting thing that's happened in past few days, bush fire.
Around 11 pm this evening we smelled smoke and thought that the campus was on fire. Well, it almost was. There was a bush fire some 5oo metres from our town house and the whole campus was covered with smoke. So what would responsible and clear-minded blogger do? He would go and see what's happening ;) So we went with Marianne and it was bush fire alright. Not big enough to set the whole campus on fire but big enough to occupy three fire trucks and attract other people too. So there's another thing to cross from my to-see-list beside roos, an Australian bush fire.

Kaislikossa suhisee

Toinen (roska)uutinen koskee jättimäistä kaatopaikkaa, jonne joutuvat varmaan minunkin miljoonat Max-pullot.
Pitää kai mennä ensi viikolla, sillä silloin on runkosarjan viimeinen kotipeli. Jaa mikä laji? No aussifutis (Footie) tietysti!
Ja vielä viimeiseksi suomalaisten sivut täällä alhaalla. En ole juuri lukenut enkä varmaankaan seuraile tulevaisuudessakaan (mä tänne suomalaisia tapaamaan tullut...) ;)
