Matti Nykänen, my HERO

That he was. I started my ski jumping dream at age of 7. And Matti Nykänen was the man. It was year 1984 and there were two shy guys, Jarkko and Janne. Maybe somebody recognises Janne, but that's not the issue. Matti was the man and now he's in jail. And for reason I must add but still. He's there, the man I and Janne admired...

Today Janne is the second best ski jumper in Finland (almost in world) and I, well I would say i'm well off. But I wouldn't see or even think of Janne doing those things, not even myself...Poor Matti, you had it all and you were my idol...I salute you!

Stupidity of mankind

Again we (Kaljapallo, my Finnish crew) came up with something utterly idiotic idea:walking competition. The idea: A person walks x kilometers and others have to raise that. how much depends on kilometers but on average it's abt 2-4 kilometers. And the last one to walk wins (there is time limits when others have to respond) ...tadadadaaa: beer of course. Man, are we nuts? (The answer is no, you're crazy)

So that's what we've been up to lately. Still wonder why I don't do something creative?

Life goes on

At the moment my motivation towards school is running low. Don't know whether it's the hot days or my not-so-performing detox-program (god I want Pepsi Max!) but I just can't make myself to write. I two weeks I have to hand in 4-5000 word essay, group work (that's pretty much done) and do last year's exam. The first on is for Credit&Lending unit and the latter ones are for the Adv. Fin. Modelling. Plus the exams.

"And what have you done if not writing your essays?" I'm hearing someone to ask. Well what not. Mostly keeping my other addiction alive that is staying online. Can you imagine world without internet? I can but I don't like it. Especially if I'd be here...scary. Anyways, as I was saying, I've been browsing the net and this li'l Aussie dictionary came up. It's from another blog, from another Finn, from another campus of UWS. I don't know her and it was purely incidental that I found her blog. As said, too much time on net.

Tomorrow we have Halloween party (read get drunk on campus) and that'll be the last "wet" night for a while. At least 'til I've finished my uni stuff. So be prepared to go through yet another set of pics in few days time.

Some pictures from the ball

As I promised I've uploaded some pictures from the ball night. They can be found at Flickr.com (unpaid ad) which actually is a very nice service (still not getting money). Anyways hope you enjoy.

p.s. And btw that well-dressed young man on right is me ;)
p.p.s The quality of pics will increase since I bought unlimited uploads for a year (it's so good I'm advertising it for free, should I get few ads...?)

It's ball-time!

Today (or yesterday) we had a ball. That's was a nice happening and I have trillions of pics from there. Maybe you see some of them....maybe not. I can't write more 'cause I'll go to bed.

How I'm living

Some of you have asked about the house I'm living. Well, here's a tour around the house. Hope you enjoy.

Thaivaassa

A fellow "Kaljapallolainen" (our gang in Finland) 'Kinky' has started his experience in Thailand. Unfortunately it's in Finnish so better start learning if you don't speak the language. Kinky being camera-enthusiastic will most likely deliver dashing pics so let's keep eyes on his blog.

So sick!

I knew that it might be hot here, during the summer. But the last couple of days have been really hot. And today...it's record hot, some 38 degrees. In spring!? I will die in December-February...snif.

Mixed feelings

On days like this one doesn't know whether to laugh or cry. On Friday started the Advanced Modelling unit and I had great expectations, well I still have. I just don't think that the professor can deliver them. No offence, he probably knows the subject throughly but the pace of lectures is..somewhat...slow...and...it...pisses me off! God damn! There's so much to cover and the first weekend is already wasted. Yeah, of course I could just read the book but some things you learn by doing/examples. Well I might take a challeging research topic and try to absorb that stuff at the same time...we'll see.
Another pain in the ass is tennis. Yes, I did bought the racquet and played on Saturday after lectures but it seems that some of the people that have racquets don't play. And the one guy that plays is really terrible. Or what else can you say when he can't win a single set? And I just started to play (played twice ever).

It always feel better to complain. Even to you :)

And we're okay.

The exam was pretty predictable and demanding but also doable. I mean I think it'll be alright (with Krusty's voice). I can't say I had a good night sleep because I wrote almost whole night the assignment and went to sleep around 7 am. Then after three hours I woke up and continued. I did take a nap for half an hour before leaving to Parramatta and I think that's the secret ingredient of success...well we'll see when I get the results.

Tomorrow I have the last day off before next unit and I was thinking of going to do some shopping. Couple of tees and jeans would be nice and a tennis racquet. I tried tennis on last Saturday and liked it.

The last exam (for a while)

Yes, that's tomorrow (today). As always, I haven't done the assignment for that unit yet so that's why I'm still up. But it has worked previously so I'm pretty confident it'll work also this time. There's actually not that much to do just few chapters, some 500-1000 words.

HD again!

Gotta say I had a little fear for this one because I barely had time to do the assignment (yeah right, no time). But obviously it was a good work. And the unit was Financial Modeling of course. So it's two out of two so far. Better cross fingers, or study even harder...

What else is new...Somehow I managed to get Skype working. Don't ask me why it didn't work before. But now it does and we had a nice conference call with buddies back home. So you don't have to install Messenger to chat with me. Skype rocks!
